EN The bicycles are on the road! Finally the knitted bikes are on display in the Sheffield’s Cathedral and they look fabulous. The 10 bikes were made in different cities of Yorkshire and each one of them represents an emblematic theme of the region: Yummy Yorkshire, Historic Yorkshire, The White Rose, Flat Caps & Whippet, Industrial Heritage, Off t’ Coast, Landscape & Literature, Multicultural Yorkshire, The Green Goddess and Sporting Heritage.

This is definitely an amazing work of Cassandra Kilbride and all of the volunteers. It was an experience full of crafts love, little chats, and Yorkshire pride. Let’s wait for more yarn bombs from this girl and her gang.

ES Las bicicletas ya están listas y quedaron increíbles. Están expuestas en la Catedral de Sheffield, Yorkshire. Las 10 bicicletas se hicieron en diferentes ciudades Yorkshire y cada una representa un tema emblemático

de la región: Yorkshire Delicioso, Yorkshire Histórico, La rosa blanca, Flat Caps y Whippet, Herencia Industrial, En la costa, Paisaje y Literatura, Yorkshire Multicultural, La Diosa Verde y Herencia Deportiva.

Es definitivamente un trabajo increíble de Cassandra Kilbride y los voluntarios. Fue una experiencia llena de amor al tejido, lindas conversaciones, y orgullo de Yorkshire. Esperemos más intervenciones de ésta chica y de su banda.

ES Les dejo unas fotos de un proyecto que acabo de terminar, es un casco-gorro de Megaman que me pidió un amigo. Desafortunadamente no les puedo compartir el patrón, porque no hice uno, lo fui tejiendo conforme se me iba ocurriendo. Esa es una de las maravillas del crochet, es súper orgánico y te permite improvisar.

EN Here there are some pics of my last project, is a Megaman’s helmet-hat that a friend asks me to knit. Unfortunately, there is no pattern because I did not use any. That is one of the marvelous aspects of crochet; it is completely organic so you can improvise.

Es.-Recientemente me encontré con una chica tejedora y diseñadora industrial llamada Lucila Torres; sus dos pasiones son definitivamente buena combinación que se refleja en sus trabajos. Me llamó mucho la atención su último proyecto "Anticarpeta", trabajo en conjunto con el artista Frabricio Tomé, en el que hace una analogía a jugo (zumo) de naranja derramado pero utilizando la clásica técnica de crochet o ganchillo (ósea mantelito de abuelita). Será una serie de objetos contenedores como botes de leche de cerámica que derraman fluidos tejidos (ya suena increíble). 

La serie está aún en desarrollo pero definitivamente promete ser un gran ejemplo de tejido combinándose con el arte, dándole un aire de innovación y frescura a la técnica, que como siempre he dicho, se considera de viejitas. Cada día se nota más como las artesanías vuelven para llevarnos a lugares que no habíamos imaginado. 

Además Lucila tiene una tienda en línea con juguetillos súper lindos estilo amigurimi, llamada Tramadeja. Puedes seguir sus proyectos y comprar algunas cosillas en el siguiente link. Aquí les dejo algunos de sus trabajos.

 En.-I have recently stumble upon a knitting girl and designer called Lucila Torres, her both passions are definitely a good combination that results in super cool projects. Her last project called “Ati-tablecloth” has come to my attention because of the originality and creativity involved. Is a collaborate work with the artist Fabricio Tomé, the idea is to mix ceramics with textiles creating containers as milk bottles and crochet fluids.

The project is just starting and developing but it looks like it will blow our minds. 

This is another example of how art and knitting can work together to innovate and reinvent the antique knitting techniques that had been considered to be old lady stuff. We can see how the crafts come back to bring us to new unexpected places.

En.- This second session was very proactive, the bicycle is almost done and there are other extra knitted and lovely surprises.

The exceptional knitting of the volunteers and the lovely leadership of Cassandra have produced a terrific project that is going to compete with the 9 other bicycles for the golden knitted medal.

I cannot wait to see the 10 bicycles together, until then I leave you with some sneak peeks. 

 
Es.- La segunda sesión ha sido muy productiva, la bicicleta está casi acabada y además se tejieron algunas sorpresillas extras. 
La habilidad excepcional de las tejedoras junto bajo la adorable dirección de Cassandra han dado como resultado un proyecto  increíble que competirá con las otras 9 bicicletas de las demás zonas de Yorkshire por la medalla de oro tejida.

Ya quiero ver todas las bicicletas juntas, pero hasta entonces les dejo algunos adelantos.

Los chicos de Wool and the Gang están con todo, no solo vendiendo estambres y realizando empaques de concurso de diseño, si no además, tienen paquetes todo incluído para que tejas diferentes cosillas como esta funda de tableta.

El precio es casi igual de caro que comprar una funda de marca, pero ésta vez puedes decir ¡La hice yo! y recibir mil cumplidos por ello. Además de que no tienes que tener gran experiencia por que viene con patrón paso a paso.

Se trata de una iniciativa para detener la vigilancia y el espionaje de los gobiernos a través del internet. Comienza éste 5 de junio tomando las medidas necesarias para protegerte.

 Acabo de conocer a Cassandra Kilbride y a las chicas que realizarán las increíbles bicicletas intervenidas para el Tour de Francia y el festival de Yorkshire en UK. Pues resulta que se realizarán 10 bicicletas intervenidas por grupos de diferentes ciudades de Yorkshire liderados por la yarn-bombera Cassandra, y se exhibirán como parte de los eventos.

El festival de Yorskshire busca promover el turismo y la cultura de ésta hermosa región al resto del mundo y como buenos ingleses tienen mucho que tejer.

Hoy fue la primera sesión de dos en las que tejeremos y tejeremos para cubrir las bicicletas (sí, soy parte del clan ahora) que se presentarán el próximo 1º de julio.  Y por supuesto les traigo imágenes exclusivas detrás de bambalinas.

I have just met Cassandra Kilbride and the girls who are going to knit over the amazing bicycles for the Tour de France and the Yorkshire Festival. There are going to be 10 knitted bicycles made by groups from the different cities of Yorkshire led by the yarn bomber Cassandra. These bicycles are going to be exhibited as part of the festival events.

The Yorkshire festival aims to promote the tourism and culture of this lovely region to the rest of the world.

Today was the first session of two in Sheffield and we did knit a lot (yep, now I am also part of the gang). The bicycles are going to be exhibited next July 1^st. And of course, I have got exclusive images behind the scenes.

I recently move to the UK (Yorkshire), I do not know for how long I am going to stay in here BUT I have discovered a lot of knitting love in here; so I have decided to blog also in your language.

We are going to have UK exclusives and of course a lot of patterns and tips. So stay connected and wait for the new amazing English posts!
